One of the dream destinations since I started taking travel seriously is Sta. Fe Bantayan. The main problem way back then until now is the budget. Being the birthday celebrant – the pressure is on me. Not to mention that I want to celebrate my 25th birthday as memorable as possible. So, I’m sharing you my tips on how I was able to manage the P5, 000 budget for the group of 8 in an overnight stay at Bantayan Island.
Research… research… research… Yes, I’ve been doing an intensive research for cheap accommodation in Bantayan Island. As much as possible, we need to look for a place to stay that would only cost us P1, 000. Looking for cheap accommodation during peak season is really a pain in my ass.
Cheap accommodations in Bantayan includes AnikaBeach, Kota, St. Bernard are among of the resorts that offer accommodations for P1000 – P1500. While there are pension house that offers cheapest accommodate such as the following:
Island Pension House offer P150/day with common CR
Sacred Heart Apartelle has P450/day aircon room with CR/show
Montemar Hotel offers P400/day aircon rooms with CR/Shower and P350/day fan room
Where to Eat?
Eating in restaurant at resort restaurant is so expensive. What we did is ask the locals to cook the food for us. We bought some seafoods from the public market then ask them to cook it for us. Once cooked, we brought our foods at the shoreline and did some picnic.
If you’re scared of your safety, there are restaurant in the town proper like Kermit’s formerly Froggy’s that offer less expensive price.
In order to save on transportation, I would recommend that you look for a resort that offers free pick up and drop off at the pier of Sta. Fe. When we went there, tricycle drivers collected P100 each for 1km ride from pier to KotaBeach. If you’re resort is near to the points of interest in Bantayan, why not do the hike. You can also talk to tricycle drivers and ask them to tour you around the island. P500 – 800 island tour that would be good. The last thing that you should remember if you’re on a budget, don’t forget to haggle.
I hope this budget friendly tips would help you achieve your unforgettable Bantayan trip. Remember that it’s not the expensive accommodation or food that matters, it’s the company. 🙂
