Hiking Malalison Island is the New Trend this Summer

When hiking is the new trend this summer…

We were at our hotel room wondering which trip to choose – 4 days in Isla Gigantes or day tour a Malalison Island.

We’ve decided to booked the day tour to Malalison Island through Katahum Tours. Glad that the staff whom responded our inquiry was very considerate and didn’t require us to pay in advance since it was holiday.

Roughly five hours from Iloilo City, we reached the Municipality of Culasi. At the bus terminal, our tour guide waited for us and brought us to the bay walk area of Culasi where we registered at the tourism office.

A small “banca” was waiting for us. The trip to Malalison Island from mainland was very short – probably around 15 – 20 minutes.

When we arrived the island was crowded as they were no longer available cottages. We had our lunch at one of the local home-stays which was prepared and cooked by our tour guide.

After our lunch, a local guide was introduced to us which she guided us on our hike to the island’s 2nd highest peak.

The trail was very easy that even 5-year old kids can manage, but it was the weather that’s killing me.

HOWEVER, the view above make up for it.

After crossing one mountain to another and checked out the cave, we then go back to the mainland. Though waves was rough, we arrived in Culasi in one piece.
