North Road Trip

Now, you’ve read my road trip compilations for south destinations, the second edition of my road trips are heading to the northern part of Cebu which I only traveled for few times.

Before I’ll start, I have a tip that might help/applicable for you. When traveling, I suggest that be  friendly to your seatmate or don’t hesitate to ask the locals. That’s what I usually do regardless if I’m alone or with my friends. I asked my seatmate where they heading. How long the travel time would be going to my destination. I would also ask if they can suggest some tourist spots that I can visit or check out. There are some tourist spots that are not publish in the internet which is worth a visit. With that, I’m able to gain new friends and even new cultures at the same time it entertain me as I won’t get bored while I’m on the road.

Here are my north road trips:

1. Sta. Fe, Bantayan Island

shoreline of Kota Beach Resort

They said that this island is the next boracay which I won’t question that. With the white sand beaches and long shore lines plus, neighboring virgin islands that are worth of your time.

When it comes to places/resorts that you can stay, you have lots of choices. For us, we stayed at Kota Beach Resort which is less than 15 minute drive from the port.

Things to do in Sta. Fe Bantayan: Island hopping, visit the old Bantayan Church, dine at D’Jungle restaurant that offers PHP 300 buffet.

2. San Remigio

photo taken at Warren's Beach Resort, San Remigio Cebu

Before I went to Bantayan on May 2009, I spent a day at San Remigio which is the town after Bogo City. San Remigio has the longest shoreline in Cebu at the same time it’s called as eco-tourism paradise.

A visit to the town of sugar cane plantation in Medellin was the first trip that I had for this year. Medellin is the capital of eco-adventure in the northern part of Cebu.

Part of the towns tourism campaign called Funtastic Medellin offer eco-adventure that you’ll surely enjoy like zipline, cable car ride, and tarzan jump. In addition, you may visit the colorful island of Gitbingil.

You can read both part 1 and part 2 of my Funtastic Medellin Adventure.

4. Balamban

You may also check out the ship building capital in the Philippines which is the town of Balamban.

First row: outside the Adventure Cafe with Alexis and cable car ride at the Island in the Sky Resort/ Second Row: hanging bridge at the Island in the Sky Resort and stress wall at the Adventure Cafe

On a sunny Saturday of 2011, I went to Balamban and checked out the eco-adventure with my good friend Alexis. Our itinerary was to visit Adventure Cafe for the stress wall and walked around the Island in the Sky Resort.

Aside from the eco-adventure, there are lots of things to do in this town that includes a visit to the old ancestral house, Cambuhawe Spring, Magsaysay Shrine, Mt. Manunggal, THICI shipyard, St. Francis Assisi Church and convent, Municipal park, and lot more.
